Toshiba 40RV525R 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV
I bought this TV a couple of weeks ago, and I like it, but only one thing: when I watch something with white letters on black background (as a title or a sequence of credits or subtitles) letters seem a little ‘gray. The TV show definitely OK White (last week, watching the Jets game, the white uniforms were white too bright if ever), but I really notice with the titles. I played a little ‘with the settings, but the problem remains. Any idea?
My settings are:
Contrast = 70
Backlight = 60
Dynalight = Off
Brightness = 64
Color = 62
Tint = 3
Sharpness = 11
Dynamic Contrast = Off
Static Gamma = 1
Color Temp = Medium
Picked up a 40RV525R earlier this week, and after a couple of days with him, I think it’s a very good deal. In search of a Sony or Samsung S Series Series 5 in the first instance, but the Toshiba was significantly cheaper, so I decided to give it a try.
Mine was manufactured in April 2009. No dead pixels, no backlight bleeding, and the uniformity of the screen is perfect. Check your pictures were pretty bad (too light, too green), but once properly calibrated, this is a new TV. Blacks are darker than all other LCDs I’ve seen in this price range.
Two defects: Stand is kinda cheap and the speakers are weak.
Overall I’m satisfied with this LCD. Feel that I have the same image quality as the more expensive Sony or Samsung and I have no money to put at the bottom of the projector 1080p.
